Welcome to the Powder Ridge Ski Patrol website. We are 80-plus members of the National Ski Patrol (NSP) who volunteer our time to provide emergency outdoor care at Powder Ridge Ski and Recreation Area in Kimball, Minn. Since 1938, members of the National Ski Patrol have been dedicated to the safety of skiers, snowboarders and outdoor enthusiasts nationwide. So, please, come out and ski and snowboard with us. And if you happen to need us, we'll be there with a reassuring smile and dedicated skills to help you out.

Thinking about joining the Powder Ridge Ski Patrol?
Here are the essentials:
- You don't need to know a lot about first aid. You just need to be willing to learn and have a deep interest in helping others.
- You do need to be a capable skier or snowboarder. You should be able to capably descend a black diamond run, exercising poise and control and the ability to quickly stop in a controlled manner.
- We won't kid you: There is an upfront time commitment of about six months. All candidates must complete an Outdoor Emergency Care class that starts in early September and ends in late November. The classroom is followed by three months of on-the-hill training.
